Stories that Heal
My story
My name is Victoria Costello
WELCOME. I'm so glad you found me. Suffice to say, my professional and personal lives have often overlapped. At best, each has fed the other. In hard times, as a single mother of two sons carrying a heavy load of family trauma, I've managed to keep us alive, even thrive, by committing to three central pillars of my life: creativity — and for me that means writing and teaching — community, and spiritual practice.

In recent years, one question has guided my creative process — what if? What if 21st century descendants of a lineage like mine discovered a current crisis in their lives could be linked directly to an ancestral tragedy. And what if they also found the same ancestor had passed on to one of their own a heretofore unrecognized gift. In ORCHID CHILD, the gift of second sight manifests in a neurodiverse teenager whose ability to see what others can't opens a portal connecting the present with the past — offering a path to healing for both ends of his lineage. Scroll below for book reviews and excerpts and recent interviews.

"ORCHID CHILD is a beautifully told story, with richly drawn characters, that seamlessly braids the competing preoccupations of our age, from neuroscience to the ancient myths and tacit laws from which modern culture evolved."
